Don’t get me wrong, I really used to love stuff like Ready-Made Mag and Make/Craftzine, but since the invention of RSS Feeds, I’ve noticed that all these outlets really offer me is the ability to make the same god-damn pair of knitted earrings and vintage doorknob wall coat hanger. I find it surprising that Craft Mag has a weekly video podcast that goes into minut details on how to builld my own Printed Circuit Board and not give me even the slightest clue on how to do something practical like rewire the house. Besides that, where in the hell did they get the impression that everyone in the world would rather make their own electronics if they just had the instructions. There’s a reason God created China.
SO HERE’S A LIST OF STUFF I ACTUALLY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE
I’ll start with 3 and y’all can end yours at the end.
1. The DIY Pregnancy Test: Hopefully the instructions will be easy and the ingredients will be cheap as I’m sure the ladies would love to make these little gems much like how they bake – by the dozens.
2. The DIY Temporary Cardboard Remote Control: For when you know the original is around but you’re waiting for the cleaning lady to come and eventually find it.
3. The DIY Lightbulb: Come on, these can’t be too hard to make. They’re only like $0.99 for four.

Bored of reading my posts? Well kids, sometimes I get pretty bored writing them. Quite frankly, I’d rather be watching tv. That’s why I’ve started a video-only blog with no extra editorial, just endless, mind-numbing entertainment.

As a great fan of both Built By Wendy and her book, Sew U, I’m absolutely bursting with fruit flavor to announce that there will be a sequel to the first book. After sending an email begging Wendy to write yet again, the general inquiries line kindly responded that another sewing manual is “already in the works” and will be available May 2008. AWESOME BLOSSOM!

Now that Pierre has made me sell all my cool shit (my toys and my car, which was actually kind of like a toy the way I drove it), I have to start all the fuck over collecting awesome stuff in a new country and on a way smaller budget.
DIY CARDBOARD SEATTERY

Foldschool has some pretty ingenius instructions on how to make a cardboard stool, chair, and rocker all with the boxes your stuff got shipped in.
PICTURES OF OUR NEW SURROUNDINGS

You have to buy the article from Make as well as a kite, a camera, and a special rig that attaches the camera to the kiteline and activates the shutter button on the camera.

Ben sent over this awesome link to these make-it-yourself paper characters. Since I don’t have a job, I can do anything I want, including make all 24 of these toys or try to kill that bitch of a berserker on Gears of War. What makes you think I’m not going to try to do both?

I just love the interweb. I finished all my holiday shopping which will be delivered to my home in due time.
MORE AWESOME THAN CERTAIN KINDS OF POO

The United States Postal Service finally got it right this year and decided to give us one “kinda shitty” stamp design to choose from a sea of “really fucking shitty” stamp designs. How festive!

Ever notice how the phrase, “Create Your Own…” is now being openly translated as, “Create Your Own Crap”, sometimes followed by, “And then give it to a loved one who is also going to think it’s crap”?
AND NOW TO CONTRADICT MYSELF

I, myself, unfortunately have to admit that I am indeed making crap for the members of my close family because really I don’t want to be that close to them anymore. I got some handy dandy instructions on how to make a tote bag from my class at Otis, and thought I would post them for everyone to see on a flickr set.

Check out the table of contents or go to the site to buy. $25.99 to make my own party pants sounds like a deal to me!

It’s a felt camera case whose outer shell is modeled off an old SLR. I’ve drawn up a loose blueprint of it, but I haven’t tried to make it yet.
Ironically, I can’t find anyone who has a big, fatty digital camera from yesteryear that is large enough to house that much material. I guess the demand for tampon-sized, 6 mega-pixel, unscented, odor-absorbing cameras have gone through the roof.
